New Years Eve

Okay I know I have not even gotten Christmas up yet but I had to write about last night. We went over to our friends house. The Rhan family. We played games, had home made pizza and just had a good time. Dennis and I had heard that the Germans do a lot of fireworks at midnight. We had even seen some in the stores but really did not pay much attention to it all. Last night at the stroke of midnight it was like being in a war zone. All around their house fireworks were going off and not just the little ones Americans do on their own. These were large bottle rockets that would shoot into the sky and then burst into color. It was amazing. We went out into the street and just stood there looking at the sky as they were coming from everywhere. You could look in the distance and see them going off all over the village. On our drive home at one there were still a ton of people out in the streets lighting fireworks. If you didn't see people you saw the mess in the street. Our friends told us they light them all off then come out the next morning and clean it all up. At 8:30 here our neighbors were out cleaning up theirs. By what was in the street when we came home they had done quite a show. Of course I don't have any pictures but just had to share.

There is NOTHING better than being in Germany during December--because of how they go all-out at Christmas with the decorations and Christmas markets, and then the end-of-year fireworks!

It's been fun reading up about your family on the blog. I can't believe that kids I used to babysit are so grown up already! Where does the time go? I'd love to chat more and see how you guys have been these past 8 years. You can email me at lissastinson@gmail.com
