We are slowly getting things done around the house. I have a few pictures of what it looked like with the previous owners things and then with our things. We don't have any pictures up yet. I hope to get some hung this week before Dennis goes back to work. I would like our family grouping in our entry way. I have even left the perfect space for it. The ones looking at the front door. Hers has the red carpet and plant. Mine has the black carpet with the Christmas decorations. Facing away from the door. Hers has the glass table with the plant. Mine has an antique chair with some bears in it, of course. I am trying to grow and orchid and I have had it over a month and haven't killed it yet!!! Maybe there is hope for me yet. Looking at what is called a buffet. Hers has some bottles on it. Mine has Christmas decorations on it. Dennis bought me this right before we moved into the house. I love it. It has become my favorite piece of furniture. It was made in 1898. The carpenters here back then would take a page from the newspaper on the day they finished the piece and put it in a drawer. Mine still has that page in it!

Changes in the house

I like what you've done with the place... ;-) I LOVE that buffett! wow! How cool about the newspaper with the date! That would be a cool story to find out where it's been over the years! I mean... it's been through world wars, and such! Wow
Hello Deckers-
This is Elaine Carson. I saw your post on Lissa's blog. Do you by any chance live in Hohenecken, Germany? Because we just moved from there in July. We lived on Carmerstrasse. I didn't see any mention of where you're actually living, but I could tell from the picture on your blog that it was a German house. I looked through some of your posts and saw pictures of Stephanie Ray in the Homecoming pics. Is Dennis working at K-town High School?
Small world!
I love how it is coming along. It is a long process to get the house just the way you like it.
Kent and Tyler flew out of Frankfurt on August 2nd, since Lissa's baby was blessed on the 3rd. I left on July 19th to help Lissa. We were in Hohenecken for five years and also loved it. I'd walk up to the castle at least once a week for exercise. It's nice to be closer to the kids here in Virginia, though. Kent is working for Arlington National Cemetery; it's a wonderful job for him. How is K-town ward doing? We know so many of the same people now! (I saw Krista Karp's comment on your blog.) We just had the Jensens and the Cozzens over to dinner a few days ago (they both live in the area--Cozzens are in our ward) so they could see our kids. Do you remember them from Zama?
