I know you all have been waiting for information on when do we move?????? I was waiting till it was all in ink and the ink was dry. There has just been too many disappointments and set backs. I was not going to write about it and then have it not be so. So here is what is happening.
The person in the house right now is getting packed out on November 3rd and 4th. She wants the rest of that week and the weekend to clean. She is a single mom and works full time so I understand. Soooooooo we will meet with her and get the keys to OUR house on Sunday November 9th. On the 10th we will get our shipment of things that have been in storage in Utah for the last 11 years. That should be interesting to see what kind of shape it is in and what exactly is there. We have a list but some of it just says box #1. Who knows what is in box #1??? The same company that packed this stuff is the one who packed the stuff we had delivered to Japan. We had a TON of damages so we are keeping our fingers crossed. We will also get our quick shipment. It should not take them too long to deliver these as there really isn't much there. Tuesday is a holiday so we will get the rest of Monday and all of Tuesday to go through stuff. On the 12th and 13th they will deliver all of our household goods. They have us scheduled for just the 12th but I know it will take two days. The first night we will sleep in the house depends on when they deliver and set up the beds. I learned after our move to Japan that I am going to have them unpack EVERYTHING that may be breakable. If they notate it on our paperwork that it arrived broken it is much easier to file a claim. They also are going to put together every bed, bookcase, everything they took apart they will put back together. In Japan once we started putting things together we would notice some damage but how to prove it was done in shipping???? An added bonus is that if they unpack it they have to take away all the packing material and boxes. I know they won't like it but that is what they are getting paid for. If we unpack it we have to take care of it. Our friends that just got their shipments said they will unpack but they will not put away anything. They said they were unpacking a box of books and the bookcase was right there. They would not put the books on the bookcase. They piled them on the floor in front of it. Too funny. So only 14 or 15 more nights before I get to sleep in my own bed. YAY. We are all looking forward to being HOME and having more clothes to choose from. Meagan says the first day she is going to wear all her clothes to school. Matt says he does not even remember what toys he has. I told him cool I can just wrap up stuff and give it to him for Christmas. He did NOT think that was funny. Dennis will get the days off for each of the deliveries. Meg and Matt think they should get to stay home as well. I told them it did not work that way. I think having two of us in the movers way will be enough. Remember the numbers on the boxes when they packed us out. We have to mark each number off our sheet as they bring it off the truck. Wednesday and Thursday are going to be very loooong days but it will be well worth it.
